Lawrence
A. Decker, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist, executive coach,
entrepreneur, and author who has spent more than fifty years helping
individuals, physicians, executives, and organizations understand the
hidden emotional forces that shape their lives, relationships,
leadership, and health. Following doctoral training at Brigham Young
University and postdoctoral training at the Menninger Foundation, he
built a career that combined psychology, executive coaching, and
organizational consulting.
As
an entrepreneur, he helped create a managed behavioural healthcare
organization that eventually served clients across the United States
before being acquired by Merck.
In
his early forties, Larry underwent open-heart surgery, much as his
father had before him.
Decades
later, at the age of eighty-three, after spending a lifetime helping
others understand themselves, he finally asked the question he had
been ignoring:
Had
he become so skilled at managing his inner world that he never
learned how to experience his own life fully?
That
question became the foundation for Come
On In. The Water Is Fine.
The
memoir traces one man's journey from surviving a difficult childhood
to finally entering his own life. Along the way, it explores family,
marriage, fatherhood, psychology, resilience, and the quiet
invitations that slowly transformed him.
Larry
is the author of six previous books and lives in Naples, Florida with
his wife, Louise.
